Billedlotto
Torunn Skjelland og jeg deltar på Østlandsutstillingen 2011 med stedsspesifikt veggmaleri/ installasjon der det første arbeidet blir vist på Akershus kunstsenter fra 2. til 30. april 2011. Det fysiske verket har blitt laget løpet av uka før åpningen og er tilpasset stedet.

Billedlotto henspiller på det å finne to like,
å finne bildepar som passer sammen. De gitte forutsetningene for prosjektet er at vi daglig har tatt bilder på sammenfallende datoer men på ulike kontinenter i løpet av reiser vi foretok i årsskiftet 2010/2011. Reisemålene var Australia/ Thailand og Sør-Afrika. Vi har deretter hver for oss konsekvent valgt ut ett bilde per dag til prosjektet. Det er i sammenstillingen av de to bildene som tilhører samme dag at samarbeids-prosessen starter. Letingen etter likheter og fellestrekk, ulike billedlesninger og assossiasjoner, hva vi velger å fokusere på og hvilke sammenhenger vi velger å insistere på for at billedlottoen skal gå opp, er en viktig forutsetning for det videre arbeidet.

Essensen av vårt samarbeid er fokuset på prosess. Arbeidet er et puslespill uten kjent utfall der brikkene brytes ned og bygges opp i nye konstellasjoner og der resultatet kan oppleves som et tre-dimensjonalt maleri og tre inn i. Selv om dette arbeidet har et spesifikt fotografisk basismateriale, vil verket dekonstrueres og vokse seg til på ulikt vis og med nye vinklinger.

Vi ønsker å veksle mellom fysiske fotografier og dekonstruksjonen av disse, collager, vegg og gulv- maleri og tegning, samt billedhefter som et supplement til lesningen. Billedheftene vil bestå av de opprinnelige billedparene med dato, sted og beskrivelse av fellestrekkene.

juried regional exhibition
Østlandsutstillingen 2011 with a site specific
wall painting/ installation.
The first exhibition is showed at Akershus
Art Center 04/02 to 04/30/2011. The physical
work has been developed in the week before
the opening and adapted to the site.
Picture Lotto refers to find two identical, to
find pairs of pictures that match. The specific
conditions for this project are the photographs we have been taken daily at the same dates during trips on different continents made in December 2010/January
2011. The destinations were Australia/
Thailand and South Africa. Individually we
each selected one picture per day for the
project. It is in the comparisons of these two
images that the collaborative process
begins. Our search for similarities and common features, different visual readings and associations of the pairs of photographs is the starting point for the work.

The essence of our collaboration is the focus on process. The work is a puzzle without a known outcome where the pieces are broken down and built up in new constellations and where the result can be seen as a three-dimensional painting to enter. Although this work has a specific photographic basic material, the piece will develop in different directions and with new angles adapted to the sites.

We switch between using physical photographs and the deconstruction of them, collages, wall and floor painting, drawings and photo booklets to supplement the reading. The illustrated booklets will consist of the original pairs of images with the dates, locations and descriptions of similarities.
